Our Very First Shabbos Party

This past Friday, we had a fantastic Shabbos Party with our Shabbos Ima, Mariella and Shabbos Abba, Arik. We started off by 'making Challah'- kneading the dough, braiding it, and putting it in the oven. Afterwards we came to our Shabbos Table and made a whole Shabbos meal Menu. The children then got to color and decorate the Shabbos table with flowers and place settings. We made sure to put a Kiddush cup, grape juice, candles, and two challahs on the table. We got ready for Shabbos by washing ourselves and acting as if we were getting dressed into our best Shabbos clothes. We then gathered around the table and the girls lit the Shabbos candles and said the blessing. The boys responded Amen. We sang some Shabbos songs while the boys went to Shul. Our Shabbos Abba then made kiddush and all the rest of the Yeladim followed. Lastly we got our special Shabbos treat-sandwich cookies. We are looking forward to next Friday for another Shabbos party.

Every Monday we discuss our weekend! Thank you Arik (Arik's Mommy) for sending in a beautiful picture dancing the "cha cha." He would mention it every time during our discussions, but now he was able to share a glimpse of what actually happens. Everyone was so excited to see the picture, and Arik was thrilled to talk about it in more depth answering his friends questions about it!!!

The letter of the week  was the letter "H"
Everyone had a good time trying out some "hair" and "hats" that popped out of our surprise box:)

Arik brought in a picture of his little sister Hannah, everyone enjoyed taking a look. Then for a special surprise we decided to bring in Hannah herself, Arik loved showing her off!!!

Among the discovered treasures in our surprise box were:
helicopter
 hippopotamus
Once again we spied our number of the week out of the crowd!!!

This week we began our first unit "All about me."
We introduced the "mat man." We talked about all parts of the body, their functions and use, as well as their specific place on the body.  Everyone took turns building a mat man and then drawing one.
This week we will be discussing our Family Unit.  Please email me your family pictures to make our discussions fun and exciting.

P.S. Due to lots of student absences last week, we will be reviewing the letter "H" again.
Home works are are given out Monday and Friday,
Show and tell for the letter of the week is Wednesday,
Every Monday discussions with pictures about the weekend.

Dear Parents please prepare and encourage your little students to participate in every one of these activities, it's a great tool for an exciting way of sharing information, it encourages self confidence and increases interest in active participation. The best way of acquiring knowledge is to make it a part of ourselves.

Wishing everyone a great week!!!
Morah Rebecca :)

Letter Gimmel

This week we learnt the fourth letter of the Hebrew Alphabet: the letter Gimmel. We learnt how it has a small line in top, a big line going down and a small slanted line on bottom.
